IN PERSON TRAINING INTENSIVE

Facilitator: Brittany Lakin-Starr, PhD, TEP

Join us for this exciting two-day psychodrama intensive in collaboration with the Center for Creative Arts Therapy. During this highly experiential workshop, learn how examining problems in action, in the “here and now” allows for a level of insight and transformation beyond what traditional talk therapy can offer. Learn how to help clients gain an enhanced understanding of a problem, more clearly identify possible solutions, and experience meaningful behavior change.

This course is designed to offer advanced counseling techniques and will introduce participants to several psychodrama skills, including doubling, role reversal, interviewing, and scene setting, all of which are applicable to individuals and groups. Participants will advance their knowledge and professional skills in facilitating groups through advanced learning about group dynamics (sociometry), roles, and the three phases to a psychodrama group (i.e., warm up, action, and sharing). Participants will also learn about the history and evolution of psychodrama, sociometry, and group therapy which were developed by Dr. Jacob L. Moreno. Finally, the effectiveness of psychodrama techniques will be explored.

This training is designed to introduce new students to Psychodrama while also advancing the skills of those with prior training. As this training spans two days, attendees will have plenty of opportunities to practice skills in small groups and receive valuable guidance and feedback from the trainer.

Psychodrama has been used all over the world in many different clinical settings and has helped in the treatment of mood disorders, eating disorders, substance abuse, trauma, chronic mental illness, and relational issues.
